Huddles forming Now!

The 2016-2017 Campus Ministry year is off to a great start. We are excited to report that God has opened doors on several new campuses. Huddles are forming now.  You can contact us about specific Huddle meeting times.

Pray for our volunteers and the student leaders on campus!

Impacting Campus thru Teamwork

It takes teamwork to accomplish great things. Recently, the youth leadership from Trinity Presbyterian and First Presbyterian Lakeland teamed up to provide a pre-game meal for the middle school football team from Lakeland Christian School. The athletes and coaches were not only fed physically, but spiritually as well.

" What a fun and easy way to be an encouragement to a team and coaching staff.  A few sandwiches, some highlight replays, and a short conversation about the greatness of God and His love for us in Christ. Such a great way to communicate that we love you and we are here for you" -Shayne Bass TPC Youth Director

"It's a great privilege to represent the local church and show the athletes and coaches that we support them and want to encourage them to represent Christ well, on and off the field. It's important for them to see church leaders get involved in their lives outside of Sunday mornings. I hope FPC can contribute tangibly in serving the team, while developing deeper friendships and strengthening the body of Christ." -Brian Morgan FPC Youth Director

8th Annual Jim Ryun Invitational

The 8th Annal Jim Ryun Invitational was held on Saturday, August 27 at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Florida. The FCA staff was honored to be part of this event which kicks of the cross-country season. There were 2100 runners registered (60 High school and 19 Middle school teams) making this the largest meet in the state.

A great morning of competition was wrapped up with an awards ceremony where Jim and Ann Ryun spoke to runners, coaches and parents. Ann challenged the crowd to consider, not just the physical and emotional aspects of their lives, but the spiritual as welll. Jim shared his story and encouraged each person to ask God to direct their lives.

FCA friend, Dr. Jeff Duke was also a special guest at this year's meet. Jeff, is the author of "3D Coaching" a valuable resource for coaches looking to develop relationships with their athletes that transcend their performance on the field and prepare them for this life and the life to come.

Special "thank you" to Paul White for his amazing work to make this meet possible!

Campus Ministry Highlight

Faculty, staff and students alike are drawn to the smiling face and encouraging words of Coach Anthony Troutman. Coach Troutman has been part of the Kathleen Senior High family since 2004. He and his wife, Tuesday, have three children and worship together as a family at Word Alive Ministries.

He has been involved with FCA on campus since his arrival, but took on a bigger role as the FCA sponsor on campus in 2007.

Kathleen Senior High School has a student-led FCA huddle that meets every Thursday morning at 6:30 in the Choice Room.

"Campus ministry can be tough, because there is a mindset that Jesus belongs in church. We need to share Christ outside of the (church) building" -Troutman

His vision for Kathleen Senior High School is to see coaches, athletes, and those they influence come to know Jesus. He wants the campus huddle to be a light.

"FCA gives Christ a voice on campus."

"Grab Your Cleats" = Vision + Volunteers

The first "Grab Your Cleats" Ministry Leadership Training session was held on Saturday morning, August 20. It was a time for veteran and new volunteers to come together for instruction and encouragement as we kick off the 2016-2017 school year.

Those in attendance came with a desire to hear more about how FCA ministers on campus and in the community. We look forward to what God is going to accomplish through these amazing folks!

If you would like to learn more about upcoming training opportunities in your area, contact us!

Thank you to Highland Park Church of the Nazarene for the use of their facilities.

FCA in the Community

July 26-29, FCA had the privilege to partner with the Jogo Bonito Soccer Camp to provide a fun and challenging camp for kids in our community. 245 athletes (ages 4-18) and 70 volunteers flooded the soccer fields at Chrystal Lake Middle School each evening. Jogo Bonito staff worked with the athletes to improve their playing skills, and Volunteers with FCA provided a time of encouragement from God's Word. Each camper received their very own soccer ball, a camp shirt and a meal was served at the end of each evening to all who participated. The Jogo Bonito Soccer Organization raised funds to scholarship every single camper! What a great way to spend a summer evening!

Lakeland Leadership Camp 2016

Praising God for an amazing week of camp! Thank you to all of our donors and those who gave special gifts to the scholarship fund. Your generosity made it possible for campers to experience growth and encouragement in their walk with Christ.

"...I've devoted my entire life to the one and only Lord and Savior." - 17 year old camper from Frostproof

" helped me open up and see the other people dealing with the same things as me" -16 year old camper from Lake Placid

" had brought me spiritually closer to God by having a close personal relationship with Him." -12 year old camper from Altamonte

5th Annual "Old Rugged Cross" 7 on 7 Tournament

The campus of Lakeland Christian School was the site for the 5th Annual "Old Rugged Cross" 7 on 7 Tournament. Sunny and hot, but the competition was fierce!

Guest Speaker, Taylor Scott (former collegiate All American and NFL, CFL football player) challenged the coaches and athletes to pursue God, and a relationship with Jesus Christ as their top priority.

Congratulations to Sebring High School for taking home the "Old Rugged Cross" trophy! Thank you to each of the 20 teams who came out and participated! Best wishes on your upcoming seasons!
