Lakeland Leadership Camp 2017

July 10-14 was an amazing week as 325 campers, 43 Huddle Leaders and 25 FCA Staff Members converged on the campus of Southeastern University.

Campers were challenged in God's Word to live and lead for Christ on their campuses and in their communities.

The Message was clear!!

There is power in One Gospel. There is power in One Truth. There is power in our One Great God who transforms hearts and brings victory in our lives.  As Christian athletes, when we stand together with one passion, one power, and one purpose there is great impact.

Blessing Coaches and their Families

The annual "Coaches Time Out" event was held at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, June 23-25.

Over 300 coaches and their spouses from all over Central and South Florida were encouraged in the areas of FAITH, FAMILY, & FINANCES. Guest Speakers included former NFL players Brian Kinchen and Rob Taylor. Dr. Jeff Duke, the author of "3D Coaching" was also on hand to share insights into the special role that a coach plays in the life of an athlete.

West Central Florida had 13 coaches attend this year. We praise God for them and are excited about the opportunity to minister to them and their families.

Campus Coach Luncheon

Poised for the School Year

As part of the preparation for the upcoming Campus Ministry season, FCA held a "Grab Your Cleats"  Volunteer Orientation luncheon on August 1. This was an opportunity for those who have made the commitment to serve as Campus Coaches to come together around the shared passion of seeing our city transformed by the Gospel one athlete, coach and student at a time. If you have a desire to combine your love for God with your love for sport, we would love to talk with you about how to "Grab Your Cleats" and be involved with FCA.

We want to thank Kate Lake, owner of "My Office and More" for her hospitality in providing the amazing meeting space for this event.

"Old Rugged Cross" 7 on 7 Wraps Up the Summer

West Central Florida FCA hosted the 6th annual "Old Rugged Cross" 7 on 7 Passing Tournament on July 22. We want to thank Lakeland Christian School for hosting this event again this year.

16 Teams from all over the region heard former Tampa Bay Buc, Frank Murphy share his story of faith before they took to the field.

Congratulations to Plant City High School for taking home the trophy this year!

Gearing up for Campus Ministry

As the calendar flips to August, our attention shifts from Camp Ministry to Campus. School hallways and locker rooms will soon be filled with coaches, athletes and students who need to hear about Christ.

FCA Campus Ministry for the 2017-2018 school year will launch the week of September 18 all across the area. Until then, please be in prayer as relationships are being built, volunteers are being recruited and trained and details are put in place for an amazing year of ministry.

As the new school year quickly approaches, we are filled with excitement and anticipation. We have seen God moving over the past year to provide more volunteers from the community than we have ever had before. These volunteers will be placed in positions that allow for greatest impact for the Gospel on campus and in the community. If you have a desire to combine your love for God with your love for sport, we would love to talk with you about how to "Grab Your Cleats" and be involved with FCA.

Coaching for Christ

First year teacher and coach Meagan Palm has a heart to see her students and athletes come to know Christ.

Meagan attended Houghton College where she played on the Women's Volleyball Team. In her freshman year she knew that coaching was definitely something she wanted to do.

"As a coach I can not only help my athletes improve on the court, I also have the opportunity to help them improve as young women."

Using the FCA Core Values of Integrity, Serving, Excellence, and Teamwork, Meagan can have meaningful conversations with her team. She can show a concern for them that goes beyond wins and losses.

Meagan would be the first to admit that she has a lot to learn both as a teacher and a coach, but she knows that God has placed her where she is for a purpose.

We praise God for Coach Palm and look forward to the fruit that her ministry with FCA will have on the campus where she serves Christ.
